Japan Tanshin (Japan Short News)
I would like to read the news written on the front page of a Japan newspaper for a month whenever I want, and enjoy summarizing it in my own way. It would also be great for learning English. It also helps me improve my digital skills. What is Japan in the digital society?
April 19
I bought the Asahi Shimbun at a convenience store today. Today’s top news is, of course, the news about President Trump’s tariffs. The minister in charge of Japan visited the United States and negotiated with three ministers in charge of the United States. President Trump also appeared at the site and gave a speech for 50 minutes. Japan has paid more than 200 billion yen for the stationing of U.S. troops in Japan. However, President Trump is quoted as saying that he should pay more. He also said that Japan should buy more American cars. From Japan’s point of view, many people in Japan would think that such a big American car could be sold in such a small country. They also say they want to reduce the trade deficit by $68 billion. This is the top news of the Asahi Shimbun.
Another front-page article said that the LDP would provide money to the people who were suffering from high prices, but the LDP withdrew the idea because it was seen by the public as being looking for an election this summer.
The third article is heavily devoted to the fact that an employee of a medical manufacturer performed X-rays during surgery without his qualifications. It seems that it was done for business purposes.
Today’s front page was these three. The media throughout Japan is still swayed by Trump today.
Cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom in the northern regions.
